I am a wife, a mother, and a career prosecutor. My husband, Lanier, and I have raised our family in Baldwin County. I want to run for Baldwin County Circuit Court Judge to keep my family safe and to keep your families safe, as well. I decided to become an attorney after I did a summer newspaper internship where I...
I have practiced law for 25 years in the States of Alabama and Louisiana. As an attorney, I begin my cases “with the end in mind.” I believe in building a case based on the facts and the law so that a conviction will be held up on appeal. I have spent the last seven and a half years working at the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, where I have tried felony child abuse cases and elder abuse cases, began a financial exploitation/white collar crime unit, and handled civil matters on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.
Before that, I worked for the Alabama Attorney General’s Office arguing for the State of Alabama in death penalty cases before the Alabama appellate courts. In doing those, I have had to examine the record of what happened during a felony trial and research the law on the various issues so that I can respond on the behalf of the State. In doing so, I often draft proposed orders for those cases. I was a legal writing professor at Jones School of Law, and a staff attorney drafting legal opinions for the Second Circuit Louisiana Court of Appeal. I have taken post-graduate courses in healthcare law and mediation. Also, I have personal business and life experience with residential and commercial real estate, medical contracts, and elder law issues.
The reason it is called “the practice of law” is because the law is always changing as society changes. The practice of law includes researching the law and applying to it to the facts of the case in a commonsense way. Because of my experience both in the legal profession and in life, I hope you will support me in becoming the next Baldwin County Circuit Court Judge.
